I had a really interesting time with a family who have adopted two boys, The couple have already raised four children and are really starting all over again. It was lovely talking with them about faith and when I left the two boys each held my hand as they walked me to the car. I gave them the Challenge papers as usual and though they cannot read they love to colour in the pictures of Bible stories. I have written before about a family with two kids where the father is suffering from leukemia. The disease was in remission for some time but has come back with a vengeance. The couple have had four months away in Adelaide for treatment, were only home one week so I was extremely fortunate to find them home. After talking for some time they allowed me to pray for them as a family. To grasp how hard it must be I must remind you that this is in the midst of the sixth year of drought. The property has only a quarter of its normal stock left, if that. It can be a hard country when things go wrong with your health. At the last property I was expecting a quick visit as in the past. However it turned out quite differently. The couple were both home and started to open up like never before. They asked about different faiths, why there seemed to be so much trouble with the Moslems and why the Israelites were always in so much trouble. From there I was able to talk extensively with them about the Lord. I gave them a Bible and left them with instructions on where to start reading. It has taken many visits to get such an interest displayed. Ross | |||||||||||
